Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends–including from the home medicine cabinet.  To help tackle this alarming trend, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) hosts two National Prescription Drug Take Back Day per year.

During take back events organized across the country, the DEA and its partners will accept pills and patches for disposal.  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.  A listing of DEA collection sites is available online.  To find an independent pharmacy in your area that offers drug disposal year-round, visit the locator page of Dispose My Meds.
